“I came here for you… To be with you tonight,” she whispered, and standing on tiptoe, she reached up and pressed her soft lips against his.

For a moment, he forgot himself completely. She was so soft, she smelled so good, and the kiss… The kiss! It started slow, with her soft lips moving gently but eagerly against his. He had stolen a kiss or two before in his life, but never had he had his own kisses stolen so skilfully by such a master thief. With lips both wet and soft, she kissed him rather thoroughly with a slight touch of demand and left him breathless and dazed. Her small hand tried to force him closer, which had the most disastrous effect on him, and suddenly he answered her kiss willingly and enthusiastically. His eager response made her giggle quietly in delight as he involuntary pressed his entire body against hers. Despite her evening gown and the several layers of petticoats she wore underneath, she could easily feel his growing hardness pressed against her. In return, she opened her mouth a little bit so that their tongues met while she deliberately spread her legs slightly apart.

All reason nearly abandoned him, but he clung to the last shreds of prudency and decency.

“Perhaps we should not…” Neil managed to say, but she withdrew from him and looked him straight in the eye. The tension between them felt like thick, invisible fog, heavily laced with lust.

“Listen carefully,” she said in a surprisingly stern voice, which was rather impossible to disagree with. “I am leaving tomorrow. We are alone in here, and no one will miss me until dawn. Either we can spend the night together… Or, if you like, I can leave and go back to the dinner party instead… Perhaps crying a little and with my gown in disarray and with my corset half-undone. If I mumbled ‘he was taking liberties’ to Colonel Harrington, what do you think will happen then? Hm?”

He looked back at her, shocked and stunned over the turn of events. Surely she is not suggesting…Neil thought bewildered.

“Why on Earth would you do that?”

“Ah, well now… That is not really the question,” she said sweetly and smiled a small, almost wicked smile, which for some reason made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. “The real question is of course: What will you do for me to prevent me from doing what I just described?”

He was neatly trapped, and he knew it.

“I do not know,” he mumbled and looked down on his hands.

“That is all right, I will tell you,” Lady Eleanor whispered kindly and stepped closer again. “You will start with kissing me again, and after that, you will carry me to the tack room where you will help me undress, and after that… Well, let us just start with that, shall we?”

“But…” he tried to say.

“Just be silent and kiss me,” she demanded.

“Are you sure?” Neil asked faintly. She could feel his resistance evaporating like summer morning mist at dawn.
